A new edition of the Bocuse d’Or Battle was held on November 28th in Turkey as part of the Sirha Istanbul. Sharing the same values from the prestigious culinary competition, first of them being the competition spirit, the Bocuse d’Or Battle are short, dynamic jousting matches in a playful and contemporary atmosphere.
The 4 Turkish candidates Abdullah AKKAŞ, Erol VARLIK, Mutlu Sevket YILMAZ et Chait KORKMAZ opposed during two first Battles. Before each battle, a “mystery box” was handed to the candidates. They had to make a recipe using a typical Turkish ingredient dropped out from the mystery box.
Mutlu Sevket YILMAZ and Erol VARLIK won the two first Battles. For the Finale Battle, they are joined by the international chefs Vladislav DJATSUK and Roland DEBUYST. In 1h30 the 2 teams had to revisit a typical Turkish dish from a new mystery box.
The jury finally chose the plate of Roland DEBUYST, Silver Bocuse 1997 and Erol VARLIK from Marmara Taksim.
